A Prayer for September

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble {Psalm 46.1}

Let us pray to God in the power of the Holy Spirit and through Jesus Christ:

Almighty Father keep the church faithful in the times of trouble. Help us to care for others and to comfort all in distress

Especially at this time of the world-wide Covid – 19 pandemic we pray for and give thanks to all working in the provision of health and social care, we pray for all involved in research to find a cure or vaccine to defeat the evil of the virus

Have pity on the troubles of the world through war and violence, through human greed and selfishness and natural disasters and disease

Give to all men and women true compassion for suffering and the will to work for its relief

Grant that in our love for those near to us, our family and friends, we shall never forget the distress of others

We pray for all affected by the present virus, for their healing and return to health in body, mind and spirit. We pray for those bereaved for the loss of loved ones, comfort them in their grief

We pray knowing that you heavenly Father are our refuge and strength and a very present help in trouble

Amen
