This month I thought I would write up what the children have been doing in Vestry Group over the last two months as we are not presenting at the front anymore.
Sunday 1st October: Harvest Plates.
The children explored The Parable of the Sower and made harvest plates by sticking leaves and drawing pictures onto a plate.
Sunday 8th October: Chris Hardwick’s Birthday.
The children made a hat and medallion which was presented to Chris at the front of the church. The children requested that he wore these for the rest of the day.
Sunday 15th October: Wedding Guest.
Party food was created out of plasticine and playdough to help the children to remember the story. Also, cakes were decorated with lots of icing which was soon devoured!
Sunday 22nd October: Half Term – No Vestry Group.
Sunday 29th October: Half Term – No Vestry Group.
Sunday 5th November: The Beatitudes.
The children were busy bees and looked into the ‘Bee attitudes’ with Sarah. The children helped to make an engaging poster which was on display in the children’s corner.
Sunday 12th November: Poppy making.
I planned a poppy making activity but unfortunately no children came.
Sunday 19th November: Talents.
The children all joined in with a spectacular talent show! Many talents were shown which enlightened our understanding of each other.
Sunday 26th November: Angel Making.
Angels were crafted for the Christmas tree festival using pegs and doilies. The children also made one to take home with them to hang on their trees at home.
I hope you all have a happy and peaceful Christmas and I will write to you again in the New Year.
With love, Martha x
