Mission Community Lent Course for 2012
Monday, 27 February 2012, 7:30pm

Exploring God's Mercy, by the bishop of Sheffield, Steven Croft, is a short course that focuses on five classic images of the Christian gospel which are woven through scripture and the Christian tradition:

  • lost and finding the way
  • trapped and set free
  • sick in soul and healed
  • in turmoil and being at peace
  • barren and becoming fruitful

Each session explores one of these images through stories, popular culture, biblical material and Christian tradition. Discussion starters, questions, prayers, and links to free online material are included, making this ideal for Lent groups.

The course will run on Mondays in the parish centre, beginning on 27 February, and on Mondays 5, 12, 19 and 26 March.

There will be two groups for everyone in the six parishes:

A lunch-time group, 1 pm to 2.30 pm, with optional soup at 12.30 pm (deliberately timed for those who need to pick up children from school), and an evening group, 7.30 pm to 9 pm, with coffee/tea from 7 pm.

On each Monday, lunch-time and evening sessions will be identical, so people are welcome to interchange lunch-time and evening sessions each week as they are able.

A contribution of £5 will be invited for the whole course from each course member, to cover the cost of the book that will be available for people to pick up on Ash Wednesday (and keep).

Please sign the list at the back of church if you would like to come. All very welcome.

Location : parish centre
