Christian Solidarity Worldwide is our Mission of the Month for November. If you would like to make a donation online for this charity, including Gift Aid if you wish, please go to this VirginMoneyGiving page which will collect it in the PCC account. There will also be a retiring collection at a St Eustachius service in November, and all collected money will be forwarded to CSW at the end of the month.
STOP PRESS: CSW announced on 17 Nov that thanks to the generosity of one of their supporters, any gifts you make after 20 November will be doubled! From Friday 20 Nov, all gifts to CSW from individuals will be doubled from a fund of £20,000, until the end of the year or the matching funds are used up. Your gift will have double the impact in the lives of those facing injustice for their beliefs. CSW hope you’ll take this opportunity to see your gift go further and shine the light of God’s justice this Christmas.
Here is a summary of their mission taken from their website:
Our vision is a world free from religious persecution, where everyone can practise a religion or belief of their choice.
The right to freedom of religion or belief is also known as the ‘first freedom’ given to humanity by God. It’s a touchstone human right, often serving as a ‘litmus test’ for whether other rights are at risk of being abused
It’s a right we must protect, defend and restore.
CSW seeks to challenge and change the laws, behaviours and policies which lead to abuses of the right to freedom of religion and belief. We have over three decades of experience advocating for freedom of religion or belief around the world.
We gather evidence and document abuses; We train, equip and empower; We enable policy-makers to stand up for Freedom of Religion and Belief.
We believe we can all play a part in campaigning for freedom of religion or belief.
We encourage our supporters to: Encourage, Campaign and Pray
We have Christian values at our heart
As an organisation we are proud of our Christian heritage, identity and values: They are the foundations in all we do. This means that we believe in the power of prayer to transform situations, and we encourage our supporters to join us in praying for the cases and issues we work on.
