The Mission of the month for October is the Bible Society which has its base in Swindon where copies of the Bible are printed in many languages and distributed worldwide.
For over 2000 years the Bible has guided, inspired and comforted many people. The Bible’s attraction is as great today as ever with the help of modern translations which many are reading.
The Bible is not one book, but a basic collection of sixty-six books written by many authors inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit. The month of October was selected for this Mission of the Month as the Collect for the last Sunday of Trinity is as follows:
Blessed Lord who caused all holy scripture to be written for our learning, help us to digest them inwardly that through patience and the comfort of your holy word we may embrace them
The Bible is selected as the only book to be taken to a desert island in the BBC Radio 4 programme and very seldom is its selection rejected.
I hope that the Bible will help you as it has me in your Bible study.
