Collect for Sunday 24th January, Third Sunday of Epiphany, Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: 18–25 January:
Almighty God,
whose Son revealed in signs and miracles
the wonder of your saving presence:
renew your people with your heavenly grace,
and in all our weakness
sustain us by your mighty power;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
or
God of all mercy,
your Son proclaimed good news to the poor,
release to the captives,
and freedom to the oppressed:
anoint us with your Holy Spirit
and set all your people free
to praise you in Christ our Lord.

A prayer sent to us by Robert, Bishop of Exeter, which is a prayer of South India which he uses every night before he goes to sleep:
God our Father, by whose mercy
the world turns safely into darkness and returns again to light: we place in your hands our unfinished tasks,
our unsolved problems, and our unfulfilled hopes, knowing that only what you bless will prosper.
To your love and protection
we commit each other and all those we love, knowing that you alone are our sure defender, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A prayer for the current crisis:
Lord we ask for your help for this community and our neighbours the world as we address the pandemic of corona virus. Grant to our politicians wisdom and courage to take the right decisions and provide the leadership we need; grant to our scientists and health planners the insight and skill to develop strategies and cures ; grant to our doctors and care workers the strength to prepare and cope with the dawning health crisis; grant to those infected your grace to relieve the stress of their condition and the strength to recover; bring Your presence to those approaching death and those bereaved; and, grant to us all the capacity and empathy to reach out to all who need our help.
