After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan’s Purse – to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.
Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organisation providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organisation serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our supporters pack shoebox gifts each year to bring joy, love and hope to children in need around the world.
A simple shoebox gift packed with love and fuelled by prayer can have a huge impact!. Operation Christmas Child brings Good News and great joy to children around the world.
I am hoping that our three churches will join together to form a knitting circle to make hats, scarves and gloves to add to the contents of shoeboxes to be sent out at the end of this year. To add to the fun, I am starting a luncheon party on a Tuesday from 12:45 to 2pm in the Parish Rooms. We can share a bite to eat (all provided) and chat to the red-hot clack of our knitting pins. All are very welcome. Of course, if you are unable to join us in person, you could knit in the comfort of your own home. We start on Tuesday 8th February. I have some patterns and spare wool if needed. Hoping to see you there.
With my best wishes, Liz Bastin.
